Tuesday, July 12

We had 44 swim team family members at the Wave Pool yesterday.  It was a great day – no rain and no crowds and, unfortunately, no Dippin Dots!

Tomorrow is the first BCC Mini Meet for 9 to 12 year olds.  Warm up being at 3:00 and swimmer check in closes at 3:15.  The meet begins at 4:00.

Thursday morning practice is as usual.  Thursday night we have a Moonlight Swim Practice for all 11 and older swimmers..  The practice begins at 9:00 and concludes with pizza at 11:00

There are NO PRACTICES on Friday, July 16.  The coaches will be at OLCC for the Mini Meet.

Monday, July 12

I hope you do not get tired of hearing how great each swim meet was.  Last night was no exception.  A much improved FLCC team provided great competition for the Bullfrogs.  We ranged from a first swim meet , Isabell Cleary, to record breaking swims.  Those records were Addie Wallace in the 50 freestyle and the relay team of Alex Lindsay, Clark Lindsay, Alex Miller, and Addie Wallace in the 64 year 200 medley Relay.  That relay broke a 25 year old BOH record held by Kristen. Fusco, Chris Graham, Dave Wahl, and Tracy Burgum.

We had several swimmers swimming, for the first time, in a new event.  In each case this swim represents many hours of hard work learning and perfecting a stoke or, in three cases, all four strokes in the Individual Medley.

From a meet management standpoint, I have never seen an interrupted meet begin as quickly, and as smoothly, as our volunteers did last night.  Thanks, parents.

GREAT MEET BULLFROGS.

No practice today since we are invading the Wave Pool.  We car pool from BOH at 10:00 am and return to BOH at 3:30.  We do need parents drivers.  It is a short enough drive that those drivers need not stay.  History has taught us that today’s forecast of scattered thunderstorms will keep the crowds down.

Wednesday, July 7

WOW, what an amazing 4th  of July weekend we had.  For four days, beginning Friday water was the place to be, whether at the BOH pool or, for those of you that left town, the lake.

Today begins the real busy portion of our swim team activities.

Have you heard the saying, “It doesn’t get any better than this?”  It would be easy to use that statement after last night’s GREAT swim meet against Meadowbrook Country Club.  Great swims, great meet hosting, great food, and (most importantly) the world’s greatest kids made for a FABULOUS evening.  The reason that statement should not be used is because it is going to continue to get better and better between now and the end of the swim season.  The number of personal best times posted last night was almost too many to count (and this comes from a former math teacher that likes to count everything!)  Three records were set during the exciting meet:  Brent Bosart broke last year’s 9 – 10 Backstroke records; Alex Lindsay set a new mark in the 15-17 Individual Medley; and Addie Wallace lowered her three day old 13-14 Freestyle record.

Spectators, from both clubs, recognized how well the BOH Bullfrogs did and passed along many compliments.  BOH supporters should also know that BOH hosts the best swim meets in our league.   This wold not be the case if it were not for the outstanding group of volunteers.  Thank  you for making this such a great place work and a great place for your children to spend the summer.  The memories that you and your family are making will last a lifetime – thanks for allowing me to be a part of those memories.
